Mindfulness in Duke Gardens & Dorthea Dix Park
Replenish and rejuvenate yourself with a meditative forest bathing practice and walk through Duke Gardens or Dorthea Dix Park. In Japan, forest walks, known as shinrin-yoku or ‘forest bathing’, are a key aspect of preventative health care.
Sessions begin with a talk about shinrin-yoku and the benefits of mindfulness and being in nature. During the class, we will employ elements of mindful meditation and our senses to engage in the present moment. The practices will help you experience the Gardens or Park more fully, and learn more about mindfulness and ways to release stress. You will emerge feeling calmer, more relaxed and refreshed.
These sessions are perfect for beginners and seasoned practioners alike. I invite you to bring a sense of curiousity and willingness to be an active participant. No props or special equipment are needed, simply comfortable clothes and shoes.
