Welcome!

I started Mindful Anytime out of a passion to help empower people (of all ages) to meet themselves, with love and compassion, wherever they are in life. I do this through the teaching of mindfulness meditation and yoga, helping people to learn the tools that work best for them in supporting overall wellness. As a result, I hope to add a bit of positivity, kindness, and compassion to our community, society, and world.

At Mindful Anytime, I:

  • Teach mindfulness, self-compassion, and wellness skills to people of all ages;

  • Teach all-level yoga classes, in the hatha tradition with Iyengar and vinyasa influences;

  • Provide resources and support to help people continue to develop and grow their mindfulness, yoga and wellness practice.

Betsi Dessauer, MFA, RYT is an accredited and experienced yoga and mindfulness teacher.  She teaches mindfulness and yoga to adults and emerging adults throughout the Triangle area, in a variety of settings including studios, business and non-profit retreats and conferences, and secondary and higher education, as well as facilitating and leading mindfulness/yoga sessions and workshops both in person and online to national and international participants.

She began practicing mindfulness, yoga, and meditation during her college years, with teachers from Yogaville (Satchidananda Ashram) in Charlottesville, VA. Betsi first formally studied and attended a mindfulness retreat with Jon Kabat-Zinn, Saki Santorelli, and their MBSR (Mind Body Stress Reduction) program, in 1998. Through observing the positive effects of mindfulness and yoga on her own life, Betsi became inspired to teach others skills to relax, reduce stress, approach themselves and others with more kindness, compassion, and to ride the ebbs and flows of life through the tools of yoga and mindfulness.

Betsi is a Certified MIEA Mindfulness Teacher, through the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults (formerly Koru Mindfulness), a Certified Workplace Mindfulness Facilitator by Mindful Leader, the Founder/CEO of Mindful Anytime, trained in the Mindful Schools Curriculum, Certified Yoga Teacher by YogaWorks, completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jeff Brantley by Duke Health & Well-Being for Coaches, completed trainings with Mind Body Awareness Project, Little Gurus, and works as a Volunteer Facilitator and Team Lead with Mindful Leader’s international ‘Meditate Together’ program. She has participated in workshops with nationally and internationally known yoga teachers and currently is working on her Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness training with David Treleaven and 500-hour advanced yoga teacher training.

In addition to her mindfulness and yoga work, Betsi Dessauer is a professional artist, writer, program coordinator, and researcher. She has taught art and art history in both the college/university and K-12 level, worked in the non-profit industry, and at Duke Univ. in Corporate & Foundation Relations at the Pratt School of Engineering and as a program coordinator for the Duke Council on Race and Ethnicity. She is a graduate of the VCU School of the Arts, holds an MFA from the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School, and is a United Nations Association Graduate Fellow from George Washington University.

A FEW EXAMPLES OF FEEDBACK I HAVE RECEIVED FROM STUDENTS & WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS:

• This was the best organized and best presented Olli course that I have taken. Instructor was very responsive both in and outside of class. It was a true joy.

• I enjoyed this class very much and have learned a lot from it. Thank you to Betsi!

• Excellent presenter.

• Betsi is a warm and welcoming instructor. She moved at a perfect pace-slow enough to allow us to understand the concepts while making us feel like the time in class flew by. I also enjoyed reading the book that accompanied the course, and plan on referring back to it as a reference. I have tried meditating during my intermittent journeys into the practice of yoga, but always got a bit "antsy." Betsi's calm and gentle demeanor led me to experience meditation as it should be, and I ultimately got to the point where I could meditate and actually relax. I would highly recommend this class to anyone!

• The instructor should teach a follow-up class.
